Old Bag of Nails Pub got its name from the first restaurants opening up in an old hardware store. When you walk in, you'll noticed that dark hard wood. There is a bar in the middle of the floor with seats around and also tables along the wall. Their staff is always fast and friendly. With their full bar, you are bound to find something to drink. That have been voted as the best happy hour in Columbus with their $2 drinks from 2-7pm Monday-Friday. They serve good fish here. You should try the fish and chips. For an appetizer, try the beer battered pickles.
Amatos Woodfired Pizza is a lovely restaurant that has woodfired pizza, subs, salads and more. Woodfired pizza adds an extra touch of flavor. Being that they cook it with wood and fire, it may take a little longer to receive your food. A good pizza to try, from local favorites, would be the "Adrianne". It is pesto sauce, pepperoni, fresh jalapeños, Gorgonzola, feta and fresh mozzarella. If you are feeling daring, get the Cherry Bomb pizza. That has tomato sauce, sriracha hot sauce, fresh tomatoes, fresh jalapeños or habenero peppers and fresh mozzarella.
Gabby's Place Bar and Restaurant is probably the best place to get a pizza and definitely the best place to get stombolis. A Stromboli is a ingredients of a pizza rolled up, almost like calzone. Everything about Gabby's stromboli is perfect. The bread is the right crunch and is never burnt or soggy. They make them from scratch so it may take a little longer to receive them, but the wait is well worth it. Also at Gabby's, they have a full bar for drinks and sometimes they have live music. When they don't have live music, they have a jukebox to keep the tunes going.
1808 American Bistro is a fantastic place to go eat and have some drinks. They don't have a giant menu. Instead they have a small menu which allows them to really focus on the food and perfect the dish. No matter what plate of food you order, you will love it. They have a "48 hour Short Rib", which they cook in seasoned juices for two days until the tender falls apart. So delicious! The beer selection here is stellar. If you are an IPA fan, you must get a drink here. They are also very crafty with their cocktails so you'll find a new mixer. For dessert, you should get the bread pudding. Super comforting dessert with a heavenly whiskey caramel sauce.
Hamburger Inn Diner is an old-school diner. With an old-school diner, you can safely assume that they have the counters and bar stools which seat people who order breakfast, shakes, and burgers. Great place to get hamburgers. They are made fresh and are never frozen, along with everything else they serve. Any toppings on the burgers are delicious. They also lightly toast the buns for an added crunch of deliciousness. They have all kinds of fries from slim cut to waffle fries. For dessert, try cinnamon rolls. They are as big as your face and served with whipped butter. You'll know you'll be back.
Bun's Restaurant has a very long and interesting history. First started as a bakery in 1927, it was then passed to many owners and then in 2002, it burnt down. They were the oldest operating restaurant. In 2004, they opened back up but in a new place so they lost their bakery. For an appetizer, you should try the tzatziki and hummus. If you are a vegetarian, they have an excellent garden burger. As for the bar, they have two bars with lots of beer on tap, like Guinness. They have a patio, or as they call it, a four season room, to sit on and enjoy the weather, when it is nice out. When it's not, there's glass doors that keep the bad weather out.
